Our child welfare investigations team screens hotline reports of child abuse or neglect to determine if they meet the required legal definitions. Once screened, our emergency response staff investigates those reports that meet the criteria for response, and assess for child safety and risk. Once assessed, families are then either referred to community providers or to Dependency Court for supportive services.
