Phone Customer Services Center Wednesday Closures - Outreach Toolkit

The County of Santa Cruz’s Phone Center will be CLOSED WEDNESDAYS starting July 1, 2026, to allow Human Services Department staff to process paperwork and prepare for new paperwork processes as benefits work requirements, asset limit changes and additional H.R.1 related record-keeping requirements are implemented. The County's walk-in offices remain open Wednesdays, if in-person support is needed during this time. Additionally, during weeks when County offices include a separate holiday closure, the Phone Center will remain open that Wednesday.

The County of Santa Cruz’s Benefits Phone Center is CLOSED WEDNESDAYS to allow Human Services Department staff to process paperwork. You may otherwise call for benefits assistance from 8 am to 4 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays each week, at 1-888-421-8080.

The Santa Cruz County Veterans Services Office (VSO), Cabrillo College Veterans Information Center, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) are partnering to help veterans access earned benefits, right here in their own community at a Veterans Resource Fair on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Cabrillo College in Aptos. This FREE resource fair will help veterans who want support enrolling in VA benefits with the VA Palo Alto on sight. It will also provide veterans and their caregivers and family members with useful supportive services and program information about VA benefits, healthcare and mental health services, housing resources, employment supports, community programs, legal supports and other valuable services. Cabrillo College Veterans Information Center will also be offering higher education opportunities for veterans. Veterans of all ages and from any area of the county are encouraged to attend.

PLEASE JOIN US FOR A VETERANS RESOURCE FAIR!
Join the Santa Cruz County Veterans Services Office (VSO), Cabrillo College Veterans Information Center, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for a Veterans Resource fair, from 9 am to 3 pm on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Cabrillo College in Aptos.

As part of the 2026-27 California State Budget, enacted on June 30, 2026, full routine Medi-Cal dental coverage for certain adults without a qualifying immigration status, will end on July 1, 2027—a full year after the date initially scheduled.
 
Because Medi-Cal dental coverage was initially scheduled to end July 1, 2026, for certain adults without a qualifying immigration status, many Medi-Cal recipients who may be impacted by this change were previously notified that non-emergency dental coverage would end July 1, 2026. This toolkit aims to educate impacted people that they remain eligible for full dental coverage for one additional year, and that full routine dental coverage will now end of July 1, 2027.
 
Please note: Emergency dental services will still be covered by Medi-Cal even after 7/1/2027, if treatment is needed right away to stop severe pain or to treat serious dental problems.

In-Home Support Services - Provider Recruitment Outreach Toolkit

The County of Santa Cruz In-Home Support Services (IHSS) program enables eligible older & disabled adults to receive in-home care that allows them to live safely and independently in their homes. We are seeking dependable, compassionate care providers to help program recipients with personal and domestic tasks so they may continue living safely at home. Benefits include pay of $20.90 per hour, full health coverage for those who qualify, flexible scheduling, and other professional benefits. While care providers are needed throughout the county, the need is greatest in north Santa Cruz County.
